Fossil, Dinosaur Tooth Carcharodontosaurus
- Geological - Late Cretaceous period: 66 - 96 million years ago. This N. African Carnosaur (meat-eating lizard) had a massive tail, bulky body & heavy bones. Its arms were short with three-fingered hands with sharp claws. It grew up to 45’ long, perhaps weighing up to 8 tons. Its skull was 6’ long. Its powerful jaws had long, serrated, sharp teeth up to 8” long. Of our dinosaur teeth, this variety is the largest & rarest.
- Origin - Taouz region, Sahara desert, Morocco. Remains also found in Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya & Niger.
