  • Geological - An extinct class of echinoderms commonly known as “sea lilies” or “feather stars”. Part of a large group of marine invertebrates, Crinoids have been found with 50 ft. long stems. They first appear in fossil record in sediments deposited approximately 530 years ago during the Cambrian Period. Crinoids became abundant in the middle Ordovician Period, 470 million years ago and flourished in the shallow inland seas of the Paleozoic era.
