Coral, Pink

  • Geological - This calcareous material which is part of many reefs is composed of CaCO3. Unworked state coral is dull or has a waxy luster, when polished it has a vitreous luster. Colored pink. Hardness 3-4.
  • Origin - Coasts of W. Mediterranean, Bay of Biscay, Canary Islands, Malaysia, Japan.
