- Geological - Fire Agate is a name given to this Chalcedony stone which has a deep brown base hue with a brilliant iridescent multicolored area within the brown. This iridescent section flashes green, orange, red & gold. These iridescent colors are produced by light interference at thin layers of regularly spaced iron oxide crystals within the Chalcedony. Hardness 6.5-7.
